Denny Hamlin is the favorite in the 2021 Daytona 500 odds. Check out the full list of Daytona 500 odds and predictions for who will win. The 2021 NASCAR season is quickly approaching with the 63rd running of the Daytona 500 scheduled for Sunday, February 14.

The 2020 Geico 500 is the 13th race of the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series season. It will be held on June 21, 2020, at the Talladega Superspeedway in Lincoln, Alabama, and raced over 188 laps on the 2.66-mile superspeedway.

The Geico 500 is the first NASCAR race since the Real Heroes 400 last May to have a limited number of public spectators. Races have been held behind closed doors due to the restriction on public gatherings as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. However, the previous week’s race, the Dixie Vodka 500, was allowed to invite an audience composed of local members of the U.S. military. The 2020 Geico 500 meanwhile, will be allowed a maximum attendance of 5,000 in the grandstands and towers with face masks and social distancing strictly enforced.

Dixie Vodka 400 Recap

In the last race of the 2020 Cup Series championship, Denny Hamlin picked up his third victory of the season and his 40th race win overall. Hamlin took the lead with 30 laps to go and went on to tie a record with three NASCAR Cup Series wins at Homestead.

2020 Geico 500 Predictions

Before last week, only former drivers Tony Stewart and Greg Biffle have won thrice at Homestead in a Cup Series race. But after edging Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski at the finish line, Hamlin joins the elite group as he moves to 7th place in the current Cup Series standings.

This is how the 2020 Cup Series standings look like after last week’s Dixie Vodka 400 race:

Who Are the Favorites?

Chase Elliott is the odds on favorite to win at Talladega this weekend. The 24-year old is currently ranked 2nd in the 2020 Cup Series standings and is just 8 points behind leader Kevin Harvick. He has eight Top 10 finishes in his last races including three Top 5 finishes in the last six races. Elliott finished second at the Dixie Vodka 400 last week at Homestead. When it comes to Talladega, Elliott only has one Top 10 finish in four starts. However, he cannot be counted out in Spring Races because he has three Top 5 finishes in four such races including a win last year.

Geico 500 Predictions

Denny Hamlin is currently 7th in the Cup Series standings but is coming off a win in last week’s 2020 Dixie Vodka 400 at Homestead. Hamlin leads all drivers this season with three races won. He has finished in the top five in five out of the last eight races of the season. In Hamlin’s last 10 races at Talladega, he has a total of five top 10 finishes including 3 in the Top 5. His last three races in this racetrack have yielded a 3rd, 36th, and 4th place finish and should be a contender this weekend.

Brad Keselowski is fourth in the Cup Series standings. The 36-year old has finished in the Top 10 in the last seven races of the 2020 season with two race wins to his resume. He finished third in Martinsville and 10th in the last race of the season at Homestead. He ranks second to Joey Logano for most laps led in this racetrack in the last 10 races. In his last 10 starts at Talladega, Keselowski has four Top 10 finishes which include two wins. However, Keselowski has not finished higher than 13th in his last four races at this racetrack.

Joey Logano is in third place in the latest Cup Series standings. Logano finished 27th in the last race of the season but he has two wins this year and four Top 10 finishes in his last seven races overall. Logano leads all current drivers for most laps led in Talladega in the last 10 races there. He also has six Top 5 finishes and three wins during his last 10 start at this racetrack. He has finished in the Top 5 in five out of his last seven starts at Talladega.

Kyle Busch is the defending Cup Series champion but he hasn’t been in the thick of the fight just yet. Busch is a far 9th in the Cup Series standings and is coming off a 6th place finish at Homestead last week. Kyle Busch has finished inside the Top 10 in seven out of the last 10 races of the season including six Top 4 finishes. Busch ranks third behind Logano and Keselowski for the most laps led in Talladega during the last 10 races there. Over that period, Busch has taken the pole once and has a total of six Top 10 finishes in the race track.

Who Wins?

Between the four drivers priced at +1000, I like Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski. Keselowski sustained his terrific form by finishing 10th at Homestead. He has now finished in the Top 13 in 11 straight races, including 8 Top 9 finishes. Keselowski also has five wins in Talladega with his last victory coming at the 2017 Alabama 500.

On the other hand, Logano finished 27th in the Dixie Vodka 400 and has not won a race since the season has restarted. However, Logano has three wins and 8 Top 10 finishes in 22 career starts at the Talladega Superspeedway.

I won’t mind if you go with Keselowski in this race because he has been very consistent since finishing 36th in the first race of the season. But my pick is Logano who is having a great season and is due for a victory after his recent struggles. Give me Joey Logano here

Prediction: Joey Logano

After a week off, we make our first of two scheduled trips to Alabama for the GEICO 500, one of the fast races of the year and even set a record in 1997 with an average speed of 188.3 miles per hour. Our winning streak came to an end at the Toyota Owners 400, but four of the five drivers listed finished eighth or better, including Joey Logano at runner-up at +750 odds. Let’s get back on track this week.

Here are five drivers to consider throwing on this week’s card.

Geico 500 Predictions

Brad Keselowski, +750 - Brad Keselowski is a three-time winner of this race, most recently winning it in 2016. Overall, Keselowski has five victories at the Talladega Superspeedway in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. Keselowski has also finished seventh or better in five of his last nine appearances at this track. Keselowski also has a victory at Talladega in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Don’t be surprised if Keselowski joins Jeff Gordon as the only driver to win this event four times.

Kurt Busch, +1650 - Kurt Busch has been nibbling around victory lane all year, which includes top-10 finishes in six of his last eight races. Busch has mentioned how happy he is with his car and that a tweak here or there will help his team get over the top. Busch finished runner-up in this race last year and is averaging a finish of 5.3 in his last three trips. Busch has finished 10th or better in six of his last nine appearances at the Talladega Superspeedway overall. Busch has won a race before Talladega in five of the last 10 years, so maybe it’s a sign his first career win at this track is approaching.

Martin Truex Jr., +2000 - Martin Truex Jr. doesn’t have the history at this track that others have, but he does hav a long history of stringing wins together. Truex is one of those drivers who seems to pile up victories once tasting victory lane for the first time, and of course, he’s coming off a win in Richmond. Last year, Truex had three wins within a six race period and finished 2017 with four wins in his last 10 races. Truex also has three career wins at the Talladega Superspeedway during NASCAR Nationwide Series, so he’s not completely success free at this track.

Joey Lagano, +800 - Joey Lagano could easily have five wins this year and has finished in the top-three in his last two races. Lagano is the defending champ at this particular race and has two wins at the other Talladega Superspeedway event. Lagano has finished no worse than fifth in five of his last seven appearances at this track. Lagano has also won three races at this track in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and has other top-five finishes. Few can say they have the success rate in Talladega the way Lagano can.

Nascar Geico 500 Predictions

Jimmie Johnson, +2000 - For the odds you get with Jimmie Johnson these days, it’s tough to leave him off the card when he’s finished 12th or better in four of his last six races. While winning is the only thing that matters, we are seeing progress in Johnson, and that includes a fifth place finish in Texas where he had a chance to win late. Johnson is a two-time winner of this event and has finished eighth or better in four of his last eight trips. Johnson averaged an eighth place finish in his two trips at the Talladega Superspeedway last year. While many have written Johnson off, and for good reason, there’s enough progress being made that suggests he could win a race again at some point.
